One Love had the pleasure of catching up with Trini-American recording artist and heartthrob, Aaron Hinton, otherwise known as, Aaron Fresh! This determined 21-year old dishes on all the things that make his style and image so "fresh", as well as, embracing his American identity but still maintaining the unique flavor of his Caribbean heritage. |
Although born in Chicago and raised between Florida and Louisiana, it is Aaron's move to Arima, Trinidad & Tobago at the age of 8, where his musical appetite was awakened with the soulfully diverse music scene of Trinidad.
During his mid teens, however, Fresh moved back to the US and was noticed shortly thereafter by record producer
Reo Mitchell, who happened to overhear Aaron's rehearsal for a school talent show and was immediately inspired by the vocal range of young Hinton. And the rest is history!
Fresh's first single Spending All My Time peaked at number 38 on the Mainstream Top 40 and No. 4 on iTunes Top R&B Charts. He has also done many features and collabs with artists such as Jessica Jarrell, Diggy Simmons, Khalil, Machel Montano, Cory Gunz and Becky G!

One Love Interview with Aaron Fresh
OL: How would you describe "Aaron Fresh," as it relates to style, sound, image and legacy? What would you like to represent?
AF: Aaron Fresh is cool, never too excited, calm and people friendly. My style is hip, cool yet trendy, same with my sound: I’m American but somewhere in my music you will feel the Island Soul along with the Pop music. I will like to be the person known to represent American/Trinidadian cross cultural borders. OL: How did your period of living in Trinidad and Tobago influence you; and what do you think it has taught you? AF: Living in Trinidad gave me a diverse sense of cultural appreciation, [and] the value of family and friends. Everybody always “nice-up”. Parang, Pagwa, Carnival and so many cultural festivities with people of all diverse backgrounds. OL: Can you name one song of yours that you think best represents your vibe and sound? |
AF: My vibe and sound will always be evolving. I do not have a favorite but music and sounds are changing and as an artist I must explore.

OL: What was [the] experience of working with Machel Montano, the King of Soca, like for you?
AF: Machel is so cool and fun. Working with him gave me more appreciation of the work Caribbean artists do and how hard they work. For me, Machel is "de Boss”.

OL: Which artist(s) would you absolutely LOVE to collaborate with? Any acts from Trinidad or the Caribbean?
AF: I always love Chris Brown['s] music and will love to collaborate with him. Then from the Caribbean, I’ve already worked with Machel, so I would do another collab, but I [would really] like to work with Sizzla!
Fresh once stated that his music is "dub Caribbean mixed with R&B America", continuing to say,
"my music is really me as a person because I'm American, but with a Caribbean background."
OL: What moment in your career, thus far, would you credit as the one your most proud of or was most memorable?
AF: Most memorable [moment] was the first time I heard my song on a major Radio Station in New York, 92.3 NOW FM.

On the industry: | OL: How would you describe your passion; and how difficult is it to fulfill your desires in this often, restricting industry? AF: Well as an Artist my passion is not only music, it is the Art Industry as a whole. I sing, act dance [and] host. It is very difficult in the Art Industry; you must develop your craft, discover avenues for improvement, not be afraid and just never give up. To better understand the recording aspect, I went on to become an Audio Engineer. OL: What has shocked you most since entering this music business? AF: What shocked me the most is the small size of the Entertainment and Musical World and how they are connected. |
"The bottom line is pleasing the fans."
OL: What is your biggest dream right now? What's the one thing you would absolutely love to make happen?
AF: My biggest dream right now is to get the BIZZNIZ right. Make good music and just inspire my fans. One thing I absolutely love to happen is: To perform in front of thousands of fans giving love and they loving me back!
OL: What can fans expect to see from AARON FRESH in the near future; new projects, new sound or direction?
AF: In the very near future, fans can expect a refreshed Aaron Fresh; they can expect new music, some dance songs, some love [and] some philosophic. The bottom line is pleasing the fans.
